Dachshund

<p>Dachshunds are a German breed of short-legged, long-bodied dogs originally bred to hunt badgers, with the name literally translating to "badger dog" in German. &nbsp;Known colloquially as "wiener dogs" or "sausage dogs," they are recognized for their spunky, independent, and loyal personalities, though they can be stubborn and vocal.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The breed comes in three coat varieties (smooth, longhair, and wirehair) and two sizes: Standard (16&ndash;32 lbs, 8&ndash;9 inches tall) and Miniature (under 11 lbs, 5&ndash;6 inches tall). &nbsp;They typically live 12 to 16 years and require moderate exercise, careful grooming based on coat type, and strict management of their backs to prevent injury.&nbsp;</p>
